Check out the link and comment. What is your view on this? What do you think is the result of this and what can be done?

Would like to highlight that you ignore that sex education is too biological although that sentence is quite amusing.

At least where I live, it's a huge problem. I am close to three people who got themselves pregnant, being anywhere near the psychological or economical requirements a baby needs.

I've also met people who are surprisingly uneducated. People in University, for God's sake, who apparently couldn't even use a condom properly.

The three people I mentioned are my cousin, who dropped Uni, with just six months left. Then my friend's girlfriend, resulting on my friend having to get whatever job he could find to put money on the table. Lastly is my other cousin, who just can't decide to leave her jackass boyfriend.

It's incredibly dissapointing how stupid can be the people you know.

Hehehe XD

Anyway, a girl who I went to school with is expecting her second baby in May, which I think is rather sad.  Both meanings of the word apply.

My workmate said to me the other day, "Isn't it sad how many of these young mothers are expecting another child and they don't even have a job."  I have to say that I completely agree with her.  The boyfriends have jobs, yes, but not the sort of jobs that provide enough money for a family.

One of my work mates has a little boy (she's not expecting again) and she's had to drop several hours of her work because she and her boyfriend split up and he's refusing to take his turn looking after the baby.

People I know aside, I think the whole situation is sad.  Personally, I believe these people are wasting their lives.  Fair enough, have a family, but wait until you're financially and emotionally ready.

Fortunately the Sun very rarely actually puts any facts into their stories. Unfortunately this is one of those rare occasions where they actually are reporting something that is true.

This was something that has had a large uproar and question in Britain. Here you can be prossecuted for having sex underage and also the guardians /parents do as well. However with this case, no mention of that has happened yet it has been advertised like some strange freak market.

But in what ways would you say its pathetic? I personally feel sorry for the child (baby) as it is going to be brought up in a world where I'm pretty safe in saying that didn't want him. I mean he's 13 and has no idea what he's doing and she, well I don't even want to think how this came to be in the first place.

I think there is a problem definately but what can be done about it? Our world is less sensitive shall we saw than it used so we exposed more to violence, sex, drugs, etc. Simple advertisement can show this.

It seems like a vicous circle that is going round in society.

I'm going o be all-out-horribly-honest and say that I don't really care about Alfie Patten.  He got himself into that situation and can live with it.

Actually, likewise with most of the same.

What can be done about it?  It's not just up to the older generation here.  The younger ones should listen to what they're told.  Fair enough, accidents happen.  The condom could split, but that's what the morning after pill is for.

All in all, if you're not ready to face the concequences of your actions, or you don't have the mindset for abortion, you shouldn't be having sex.

I agree I couldn't give two tosses about him either but I just feel a bit sad for the baby to be honest.

I was talking to a mate at work and we were thinking what we were doing at 13. I remember going out and hanging out with my mates and all, but sex was probably the last thing on my mind. I mean I didn't drink much alcohol til I was 18 (and look at me now with that!). I just personally find it bizzare that people are thinking about sex at that age. I'm sounding like a grumpy old man again aren't I?

No, you're sounding like me.  And I'm younger than you.  I think.

When I was thirteen I was worrying about school, and would I still have the same friends tomorrow etc, not sex, drugs and rock and roll.  I'd not tasted alcohol and I don't drink now.

I've not even read the article because I couldn't care less about the Sun's point of view, to be honest.  Awful newspaper.  There's rarely any news in it, just made up crap.

I think a possible prblem with teenage parents could be that they expect their parents to be the ones who will look after the baby.  What's worse is that those parents often do that very thing.  Fair enough, it's wrong to see the innocent baby suffer because it's teenage parents are stupid, but make it's parent's care for it.  Teach them to learn from their mistakes.  If they wanted the baby enough to not get rid of it/put it up for adoption/whatever, let them handle it.

I just think it is sick and wrong for a kid (probably 12 at the time) to have sex with anyone. Even his girlfriend who is 15, thats still way to young for sex.

I find that people don't take sex seriously anymore. It used to be part of love, or atleast it was supposed to be. Now it seems like a past time. =/

Oh god. I had a rant prepped for my website about this...

Questions arose when I first heard about this, including such gems as:

-Where are the parents?
-Don't they have condoms in England?
-Doesn't this count as statutory rape?

Frankly, she should have aborted the kid or put it up for adoption. I like the first option, but thats because I'm an evil *censored* who thinks the concept of a vacuum cleaner nozzle up a lass's vagoo is worth a chuckle Tongue. Either way, 13, hell, even 15 is not the age where one is capable of looking after a snot-nosed hellspawn.

As far as teenage pregnancy in general goes, It's just wrong, and puts a strain on both the child and the parents -not to mention whatever welfare/assistance scheme they'd inevitably be on.

1. The mother of Alfie Patten demanded a test to see if it really is his child.

2. We do, but we have ignorance on how they are used.

3. Yes it is, but since when did that make hormonal idiots care?

Apparently its only rape if both parties don't agree. However it does class as underage sex which is illegal and I don't know why social services aren't doing anything but this is Britains Government so don't expect any surprises.

We have condoms but they're can't read the manual.

This is the scary thing though, this is just one case that has been brought to the light. But this is not the first time this has happened. Scary isn't it.

Scary?  No.  Pathetic?  Yes.

And, ironically, exam grades keep getting higher every year.  Shame people can't take their intelligence and apply it.

Am I being too harsh?

Exam results are a completely different kettle of fish and can explain for days on end why they aren't correct but i'll leave my teacherness out of this and give the basic answer of they're making them easier every year to keep the numbers up.
